Who we are

The tradeplatform has been developed by the Economic Department of the Dutch Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Economic Department is headed by Carel Richter and further includes Hans Buhrs, Monique van Hussen and Esteban Gracias. Together they have over 40 years of experience working for the Dutch Embassy and know all the ins and outs of living and working in Central America. They use their combined knowledge to help existing Dutch companies in the region, as well as new companies interested in doing business in Central America.

Furthermore, they also dedicate their time to providing advice, contacts and information to Central American companies who want to know more about doing business in the Netherlands. This service has been used more and more by Central American companies. They have developed several products to improve the information that is being provided to Dutch and Central American companies.

In 2008 the digital Handelswijzer (Trade guidebook) www.handelswijzer.com was launched; a source of information of the Dutch Embassies on doing business in Central America, high-potential sectors and links to trade-related organizations. This tradeplatform goes one step further by providing companies with the opportunity to contact other registered companies. Furthermore, this website will be used to inform users of upcoming events in the Netherlands as well as Central America. If you have a trade-related question, please use the form provided in the section Ask tradequestion for the question to be directly forwarded to the person in charge within the Dutch Embassies in Central America.

In December 2009 the digital www.guiadecomercio.nl (Trade guidebook) will be launched; a source of information of the Dutch Embassies in Spanish on doing business in the Netherlands, high-potential sectors and links to trade-related organizations.
